What's Your Dream ...

Do you ever feel like a failure because your dreams don’t become a reality? I have been there. We all have. But never giving up is the key to one day making it happen!

I just listened to an incredible podcast from my friend, Josh S. Clark, who shared his insights on having a dream big enough to inspire you to never give up. Wow! What a powerful message!!

A Proverbs Josh shared was, "Where there is no vision, the people  perish . . ." (Proverbs 29:18) This is so true! Without a vision it is impossible to reach your chosen destination.

Josh shared these eight reasons why your dreams might die and I wanted to share them with you.

❇️ Your dream isn’t authentic.  If your dream doesn’t get you jumping out of bed in the morning ready to get going, it probably isn’t inspiring enough to ever be reached. Determine what your passion is and make it happen!

❇️ Stop dreaming. People get into a rut and discouraged believing their dream will never happen so they stop dreaming altogether and stop having faith. Don't let this happen to you. If we stop dreaming, we really stop living and we are not seeking the path God intended for us while here on earth.

❇️ Dream isn’t big enough. Make sure you really set your sights on BIG dreams. And have a bag full of dreams to keep you inspired. Set big goals, but then set small milestones as well so you don't get discouraged because your dream is taking too long.

❇️ Continue growing. If your dream isn’t helping you grow in your life, it won’t keep your attention for too long. Reach for the stars ... you may miss, but you will still land in the clouds!

❇️ Supporting community. Without people in your life that are encouraging and uplifting, it is hard to be positive. Motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, said,
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Essentially, the people you spend the most time with shape who you are. Remember, there will always be negative people trying to squash your dreams so surround yourself with positive influence to ensure you continue seeking those goals.

❇️ Dream doesn’t have a roadmap. Yes dreams are fantastic and keep us seeking to be better, but if you don’t have a guideline to how we are going to get there, chances are you will be easily derailed.

❇️ Supportive daily habits. Once you have determined your roadmap of how you can be successful in reaching your dream, set some daily habits that will help you get there ... then make sure to do them!

❇️ Accountability partner. Find someone in your life who will be there to hold you accountable to the goals you want to accomplish. It is proven that having someone like-minded with the same passion as you can help you stay on the path to reaching your ultimate destiny.

As Josh said, “Are you raring or just ready?” The definition of “raring” is full of eagerness or enthusiastic. I want to be raring in everything I decide to do!!

I truly believe that we all have different purposes here while on earth. Most importantly is to spread the word of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and another is live the life God would want us to live while inspiring others to be the best they can be in everything they do.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life ... how will you spend it?

Tips on Dealing with Stress . . .

We all tend to get overwhelmed and stressed out from time to time. Sometimes stress can be beneficial when it helps us get motivated to tackle a work project or exams, but extreme stress can lead to some adverse health consequences that can affect our bodies. Unless you learn how to deal with that stress, you could suffer mentally, emotionally, or physically! How can you stay calm and relaxed? It takes practice, but it is possible! Here are some tips to try when you are having a stressful day . . .
  • Physical Activity: Yes! Get up and get moving can be a great stress relief. I’m not talking about running a marathon. I simply mean get out and walk. Taking a walk around the block, going through the park, or getting out for a hike can do wonders for your mental health not to mention good for your body.
  • Stress Diary: May sound hokey but keeping records of the date, time, and place when you feel stress can make you more aware of the situation that caused it. Writing down your thoughts can help you process the stress in a way without exploding. If you can figure out your stress triggers, you can develop some techniques to deal with them in a healthier way.
  • Meditation: Taking time to relax and take deep breaks is an awesome way to relieve stress. You can do this on your own or by guided apps. One app I love to use for my meditation is the Calm app. It has a variety of themes you can choose from like Beginners, Sleep, Stress, Gratitude, Train Your Mind, etc.
  • Reduce caffeine, alcohol, and refined sugar consumption: Reduce the intake of drinks containing caffeine and/or alcohol. While they are stimulants, they can also increase your stress levels. Refine sugars are known for giving your body a temporary boost, but then they cause your body to CRASH which can leave you feeling tired and irritable. Afraid to give up that caffeine? I found an incredible natural energy tea that gives me abundant energy without all the sugar and caffeine. Would love to share if you want to learn more.
  • Stress Buddy: Find someone you trust who you can connect with and share your frustration. Talking to a friend can help you calm down as well as help you keep your problems in perspective. If you can’t find your Stress Buddy when you need them, try talking to yourself with positive thoughts. Research suggests every thought and emotion can release chemicals into our bodies. If we focus on the problem with negative self-talk . . . it can be damaging! Start by telling yourself that you can deal with the situation and everything is going to be fine. Reprogramming your brain to think positive can help start you on the road to dealing with the issue in a healthy way.
  • Laughter is the Best Medicine: Step back from the situation and smile! Did you know when you laugh or smile your body releases endorphins and decreases excess levels of cortisol and adrenaline? A smile or a laugh can immediately help to relieve the tension in your life. So sit back and watch one of your favorite comedies, read a book of jokes, or listen to a comedian.
  • Get or Give a Hug; Hugs are known to increase levels of oxytocin, which is associated with happiness and reduces stress. The cardiovascular system seems to benefit when people give or receive hugs. One received study from University of North Caroline observed 59 women who were living with a spouse for the last six months. The results of the study revealed that women who got more hugs generally had higher oxytocin levels compared to those who didn’t receive hugs. Researchers concluded that a link between oxytocin levels and lower blood pressure may exist.
Essentially, focus on the positive in your life and let the stress go. Life is full of ups and downs. How long you let the downs keep you down is up to you. God bless and have an awesome day!

I am turning 50 on Monday, August 10. Does it bother me? Not really. I think it is just a number without a lot of meaning. What am I focusing on more? Where I am at in my life . . . that is what really matters!

I have a wonderful life! I am blessed to have a fantastic husband who loves me more than anything. I have a beautiful cabin in the mountains where I get to walk on our eight acres and reflect on the journey of my life. I work from home and have good clients. My life is filled with wonderful friends and family, not to mention my sweet, precious furry babies that make me laugh daily!

But . . . what would I change? What am I passionate about? That is still to be determined. While I am very happy with my life as it is, I do feel that I am missing my calling. What is it that I am really supposed to be doing with my career? I truly don't know. But I do believe that God has given me gifts and a talent that are not being utilized. I also know with God's guidance and direction, I will find my way. It will not be something that changes overnight, but I know I will get there. I will continue to keep the faith and follow the direction that I believe God would like me to go. I know it has something to do with helping others and giving to those in need. Somehow, some way, I will make a priority in my life and get there slowly but surely.

What are your passions? What would you change if you could? You may already be there, but if you aren't . . . I encourage you to listen to your inner voice and start seeking that journey. I am sure you won't be sorry for doing so.
